Russpuppy, it’s good to have you back on Steamified. This is the second of the developer-publisher’s games that we’ve been fortunate enough to spotlight so far this year. The first was The Deletion which we featured very early on (January 7th). Where The Deletion was a fast paced minimalist puzzle-platformer Domino Sky is a much slower paced strategic game where the objective is to drop dominos into a lovely cascade in order to complete puzzles.I love the game. I was one of those kids who used to pull out my dominos to put them on the kitchen table, the living room carpet or any surface that I could possibly find to see how many dominos I could get to cascade down. Some of my most cherished childhood memories were doing spending hours doing this with friends. It was one game that I was pretty darn good at. Winning came relatively easy but I truly did love seeing how artistic friends could be with their dominos. Therefore you could say that I’ve been waiting for such a game to come out for a long, long time. And with Russpuppy’s excellence of execution they didn’t disappoint me. Sure, it could be a little more polished but the game does what it sets out to do. I love the different challenges and that the achievements tied to them are spaced out that you have to work for the next one and the next one until you’ve completed the game which I am dead set going to do at some point. The physics are also pretty much close to perfection which is absolutely an important facet of the game.If I had to nitpick on the game a little it would be that the camera is a little frustrating. I would have liked it to have been a little more mobile and easy to move than what it is. But it does move it’s just a little bit of a struggle at times to get it where you want it to be. Other than that I have no complaints at all with the game. There’s more than a sufficient amount of levels for a sub-$5 game and you also have free build mode for those who want to be artistic and build something spectacular. If I could offer something a little unnecessary but a wishlist item for the title it would have been nice to see a little game of dominos implemented into the game. Perhaps unnecessary but it would have been a really sweet touch. The game has been Steamified with trading cards and achievements.A hearty and childlike recommendation. Thanks Russpuppy. For more reviews and our popular giveaways please visit http://www.steamified.com.. If you've seen one of those awesome domino-toppling videos and want to do that yourself, this is the cheapest way to learn. It's not 100% accurate but it'll get you most of the way to expertise with no more physical work than twitching the mouse.. not bad kept resetting my equipped skin tho. Completion State:Completed all 40 levels (2.9 hours, 100% Steam achievements)Comments:This is a relatively simple but fun puzzle game from Russpuppy. Arrange dominoes to get shiny things. Levels vary from fairly simple to ones that require the placement of fifty dominoes, then repetition and a certain amount of hope that the physics go your way!It took me about three hours to play through all 40 levels and I broadly speaking enjoyed them all. The relaxing classical tunes certainly help to create a generally mellow kind of vibe. The puzzles are fun enough, despite one or two requiring some repetition. Luckily the frustration is reduced here as you can restart the level with all your dominoes places as they were before and just adjust your layout rather than start afresh each run. The levels get reasonably complex towards the end but never to tough even for me and I'm pretty bad at puzzles!. Domino Sky is kind of a neat game. Overall fun game as long as the puzzles can be completed with a little thought. Some of the later levels are annoying because they don't necessarily need problem solving skills, but require you to set up the dominoes and then rely on the RNG/Physics engine to go your way, such as the zero G levels or the ones with exploding balls that catapult dominoes around and hope to hit the other dominoes on the next platform to complete the level. Run it a couple of times to make sure the RNG won't work the way you want; If it doesn't, just change up the layout and run the simulation a few more times until you get it right. Many of the levels have moving components that aren't obvious on what they are going to do, so the first setup is used to just figure out what parts move and where. Some of the fun was getting the puzzle right on the first try, but on these levels that wasn't possible and again required "Trial and Error" with the RNG But even with the annoyances, Domino Sky is still pretty easy to complete. So above average game.. Fantastic, loads of fun :) Highly recommended.
